{"id":246843,"date":"2024-08-21T01:34:53","date_gmt":"2024-08-20T20:04:53","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/arunachaltimes.in\/?p=246843"},"modified":"2024-08-21T01:34:53","modified_gmt":"2024-08-20T20:04:53","slug":"awareness-prog-on-parthenium","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/arunachaltimes.in\/index.php\/2024\/08\/21\/awareness-prog-on-parthenium\/","title":{"rendered":"Awareness prog on parthenium"},"content":{"rendered":"<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\"><strong>PASIGHAT, 20 Aug<\/strong>: Sixty-six BSc. horticulture (honours) and BSc. forestry (honours) students participated in an awareness programme on parthenium weed, organised by the College of Horticulture &amp; Forestry (CHF) here, at Komlighat on Tuesday.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">The programme, which was organised in collaboration with the College of Agriculture and the East Siang KVK, was chaired by CHF Dean prof B.N Hazarika.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">&#8220;Parthenium, commonly known as congress grass, gajargrass, white cap or top, carrot weed and safed topi, is an alien invasive weed of national importance,&#8221; the CHF informed in a release.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">Addressing the students, prof. Hazarika said, &#8220;This weed is very dangerous and causes many health hazards for humans.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">&#8220;The pollen grains, airborne dried plant parts and roots of parthenium cause various allergies like contact dermatitis, hay fever, asthma and bronchitis in human beings,&#8221; the release stated.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">AICRN-Potential Crop PI Dr. P.
