{"id":250304,"date":"2024-10-14T01:07:23","date_gmt":"2024-10-13T19:37:23","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/arunachaltimes.in\/?p=250304"},"modified":"2024-10-14T01:07:23","modified_gmt":"2024-10-13T19:37:23","slug":"assam-hit-by-4-2-magnitude-earthquake","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/arunachaltimes.in\/index.php\/2024\/10\/14\/assam-hit-by-4-2-magnitude-earthquake\/","title":{"rendered":"Assam hit by 4.2 magnitude earthquake"},"content":{"rendered":"<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\"><strong>GUWAHATI, 13 Oct:<\/strong> An earthquake of 4.2 magnitude jolted the north-central part of Assam on Sunday morning, an official bulletin said.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">There is no immediate report of any injury to anyone or damage to any property, officials said.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">A National Centre for Seismology report said that the quake was recorded at 7:47 am in Udalguri district on the northern bank of the Brahmaputra, at a depth of 15 kms.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">The exact location of the epicentre of the earthquake is around 105 kms north of Guwahati and 48 kms west of Tezpur, near the Assam-Arunachal Pradesh border.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">People in neighbouring Darrang, Tamulpur, Sonitpur, Kamrup and Biswanath districts also felt the jolt. Kamrup Metropolitan, Morigaon and Nagaon districts on the southern bank of Brahmaputra too felt the tremor.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">The earthquake could be felt in some areas of western Arunachal as well as eastern Bhutan, the report showed.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">The tremor forced people to scamper out of their homes to open areas.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">The northeastern region falls in the high seismic zone, making earthquakes frequently hit the region.
