{"id":25242,"date":"2018-04-11T01:21:38","date_gmt":"2018-04-10T19:51:38","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/arunachaltimes.in\/?p=25242"},"modified":"2018-04-11T01:21:38","modified_gmt":"2018-04-10T19:51:38","slug":"dc-urged-to-take-steps-to-check-pollution-of-streams","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/arunachaltimes.in\/index.php\/2018\/04\/11\/dc-urged-to-take-steps-to-check-pollution-of-streams\/","title":{"rendered":"DC urged to take steps to check pollution of streams"},"content":{"rendered":"<p style=\"text-align: justify;\"><strong>ITANAGAR, Apr 10:<\/strong> The Youth Mission For Clear River &#8211; Arunachal Pradesh (YMFCR-AP) in a representation to the capital complex deputy commissioner on Tuesday urged him to initiate steps to check pollution of streams in the capital complex.<br \/>\nSeeking to draw the DC&#8217;s attention to the pollution of natural streams because of the ongoing construction of the four-lane highway between Naharlagun and Itanagar, the group urged him to take urgent steps to address the issue.<br \/>\nYMFCR-AP chairman SD Loda claimed that several natural streams are getting diverted because of the construction work.<br \/>\n&#8216;The streams&#8217; courses are being diverted as soil is dumped over the streams, due to which surface water is going underground and is slowly depleting,&#8217; Loda said.<br \/>\n&#8216;Moreover, rampant illegal earth-cutting is going on in various locations of the twin capital towns, which has caused mass destruction of natural forests and the catchment areas of the streams.
