{"id":256124,"date":"2025-02-02T00:23:14","date_gmt":"2025-02-01T18:53:14","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/arunachaltimes.in\/?p=256124"},"modified":"2025-02-02T00:23:14","modified_gmt":"2025-02-01T18:53:14","slug":"united-oyan-win-ligang-cricket-tourney","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/arunachaltimes.in\/index.php\/2025\/02\/02\/united-oyan-win-ligang-cricket-tourney\/","title":{"rendered":"United Oyan win Ligang Cricket Tourney"},"content":{"rendered":"<p style=\"text-align: justify;\"><strong>Prafulla Kaman<\/strong><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\"><strong>OYAN, 1 Feb:<\/strong> United Oyan cricket team emerged the champion of the 26th edition of the Ligang Cricket (T20) Tournament, defeating Bogong Federation Cricket Club (BFCC) of Pasighat by 48 runs in the final match of the tourney at the Oyan playground on Saturday.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">The cricket tournament is an annual event of Oyan village and is organised on the eve of Ali-Aye-Ligang festival of the Mising community.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">Batting first in the final match, United Oyan scored 98 runs in 18 overs and set a target of 99 runs for opponent BFCC. BFCC could not reach the target, losing all their wickets in 13 overs after scoring 50 runs.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">The champion team of the tournament was awarded a cash prize of Rs 1 lakh and a trophy, while the runner-up team was given Rs 40,000 and a trophy.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">Bicky Chetry of Oyan United was declared the man of the match, while Amor Pait was adjudged the man of the series.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">Twenty-two cricket teams from different districts participated in the tournament, informed organising committee chairman Suraj Pait.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">Attending the closing ceremony, state&#8217;s NHM nodal officer Dr Dimong Padung suggested to the organisers to conduct different sports and activities, including yoga, round-the-year for the youths.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">Lamenting that illicit drugs traders are using the interstate boundary area as their business hub, Dr Padung said that &#8220;games and sports are the most effective way to keep the youths away from narcotics and drugs habits.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">Speaking on the occasion, principal of Pasighat-based Agriculture Training Centre, Meghnath Bori, advised the young players to improve their skill to become successful players.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">Among others, organising committee chairman Suraj Pait, Oyan ZPM Bimol Lego, organising committee adviser Boken Pao (DFO), and Oyan Bane Kebang president Mojit Pao also spoke.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">Urban Development Joint Director Nixon Lego, Ruksin PS OC Ige Lollen, senior public leader Tayor Radeng and local gaon burahs also attended the concluding ceremony.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Prafulla Kaman OYAN, 1 Feb: United Oyan cricket team emerged the champion of the 26th edition of the Ligang Cricket (T20) Tournament, defeating Bogong Federation Cricket Club (BFCC) of Pasighat by 48 runs in the final match of the tourney at the Oyan playground on Saturday.
