RONO HILLS, 6 Mar:<\/strong> Nagaland Governor La Ganesan urged the youths to take pride in India’s rich cultural heritage and contribute to its preservation.<\/p>\n He was speaking during a cultural programme themed ‘Bharat Ko Jano’, organised at Rajiv Gandhi University (RGU) here by the North East Zone Cultural Centre (NEZCC) and the state’s art & culture department on Thursday.<\/p>\n Ganesan, who is also the chairman of the NEZCC, said: “Our differences make us one,” and appealed to everyone to work towards collective growth.<\/p>\n He also lauded the state government for organising the ‘Desh Ko Jano’ event.<\/p>\n The programme brought together cultural performances from Arunachal Pradesh, Assam, Himachal Pradesh and Manipur, celebrating the rich and diverse heritage of India.<\/p>\n Art & Culture Secretary Tai Kaye in his address emphasised the importance of cultural exchange in fostering national unity.<\/p>\n Addressing the cultural entourage and the students of the university, RGU Vice-Chancellor (i\/c) SK Nayakemphasised the role of academic institutions in preserving and promoting indigenous traditions. He said that “diversity is not a challenge but an asset for the country.”<\/p>\n Highlights of the event were folkdance performances showcasing the cultural vibrancy of different regions of the Northeast.<\/p>\n Arunachal was represented by Monpa, Wancho and Nyishi folk dances, while Himachal Pradesh featured the Simouri Natti and Paduua dances.
