{"id":263935,"date":"2025-05-14T00:51:00","date_gmt":"2025-05-13T19:21:00","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/arunachaltimes.in\/?p=263935"},"modified":"2025-05-14T00:51:00","modified_gmt":"2025-05-13T19:21:00","slug":"kashmir-issue-is-bilateral-between-india-and-pakistan-mea","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/arunachaltimes.in\/index.php\/2025\/05\/14\/kashmir-issue-is-bilateral-between-india-and-pakistan-mea\/","title":{"rendered":"Kashmir issue is bilateral between India and Pakistan: MEA"},"content":{"rendered":"<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\"><strong>NEW DELHI, 13 May:<\/strong> India on Tuesday said that its longstanding position on Kashmir has been that it is a bilateral issue between New Delhi and Islamabad and there is no change of this stand.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">The assertion came against the backdrop of US President Donald Trump&#8217;s renewed offer to mediate on the Kashmir issue.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">&#8220;We have a longstan-ding national position that any issues pertaining to the Indian union territory of Jammu and Kashmir have to be addressed by India and Pakistan bilaterally,&#8221; Ministry of External Affairs (MEA) spokesperson Randhir Jaiswal said.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">&#8220;That stated policy has not changed. As you are aware, the outstanding matter is the vacation of illegally occupied Indian territory by Pakistan,&#8221; he said.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">Jaiswal was responding to a question on Trump&#8217;s offer.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">On speculation on nuclear war by Trump, Jaiswal said the military action was entirely in the conventional domain.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">&#8220;There were some reports that Pakistan&#8217;s national command authority will meet on 10 May. But this was later denied by them. Pakistan foreign minister has himself denied the nuclear angle on record,&#8221; Jaiswal said.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">&#8220;As you know, India has a firm stance that it will not give in to nuclear blackmail or allow cross-border terrorism to be conducted invoking it,&#8221; he said.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">&#8220;In conversations with various countries, we also cautioned that their subscribing to such scenarios could hurt them in their own region,&#8221; he added.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">Jaiswal said India will keep the Indus Waters Treaty in abeyance until Pakistan credibly and irrevocably abjures support for cross-border terrorism.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">Pakistan nurtures terrorism on an industrial scale, he said.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">Terrorist infrastructures that India destroyed under Operation Sindoor were responsible not only for the deaths of Indians but of many other innocents around world, he said.
