{"id":264586,"date":"2025-05-26T00:54:08","date_gmt":"2025-05-25T19:24:08","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/arunachaltimes.in\/?p=264586"},"modified":"2025-05-26T00:54:08","modified_gmt":"2025-05-25T19:24:08","slug":"two-held-for-trading-pangolin-skin","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/arunachaltimes.in\/index.php\/2025\/05\/26\/two-held-for-trading-pangolin-skin\/","title":{"rendered":"Two held for trading pangolin skin"},"content":{"rendered":"<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\"><strong>RUKSIN, 25 May:<\/strong> Forest officials in Assam&#8217;s Dhemaji division&#8217;s Jonai range arrested two individuals involved in illicit trade of wild animal organs on Saturday.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">The officials seized a smoke-dried pangolin skin from the duo, identified as Dhanesh Doley and Asiram Doley, both residents of Laimekuri in Dhemaji district.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">The skin belonged to a thick-tailed Indian pangolin, measuring 2.3 feet in length, including the tail.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">According to Assam forest officials, the duo poached the endangered animal from a forest area in Arunachal Pradesh, bordering Assam.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">Further investigation is underway to uncover details about the wildlife trafficking ring.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">An offence report has been filed against the duo. They have been booked under the Wildlife Protection Act.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">Pangolins are found in the natural forests of Arunachal&#8217;s Siang belt, which borders Assam.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">The species is trafficked for its scales, believed to have medicinal properties in traditional medicine.
