The true merit of candidates is supposed to be judged in the mains examination, where depth of knowledge and professional competence are actually tested. By restricting departmental eligibility in the prelims itself, the APPSC has effectively placed the 362 candidates 34 ranks ahead of others (as there are 34 vacancies in RWD, WRD, and Hydropower Departments), regardless of their eventual performance in the mains.

Such a system creates the possibility that a candidate with higher marks in the mains may be denied a post, while another with comparatively lower mains marks secures a job, solely due to this premature segregation. This defeats the principle of fairness, transparency, and equal opportunity in competitive examinations.

We humbly request the authorities concerned to rectify this system before the examination proceeds further, ensuring that final selection and departmental allocation are based only on mains and interview performance, not on preliminary marks.

This corrective step would prevent confusion, disappointment, and future disputes among the aspirants, while upholding the credibility of the recruitment process.

Aggrieved candidates

Editor, We wish to draw attention to a serious issue in the recently declared scheme of the AESE examination concerning civil engineering (CE) candidates.
