\nThat mapped the heart of the Northeast,
\nThat made the winding Brahmaputra musical,
\nIts eternal splashes tuneful,
\nHas fallen silent.<\/p>\n
\nIts lush green tea gardens,
\nIts animal pride,
\nIts nature\u2019s basket,
\nHas gone quiet.<\/p>\n
\nThat encouraged birds to chirp shriller,
\nTigers to roar prouder,
\nElephants to trumpet the dawn,
\nHas eclipsed to heaven.<\/p>\n
\n\u201cJay Jay Maa Kamakhya,\u201d
\nThe voice that stirred the tailwinds,
\nAnd pushed back the headwinds,
\nA symbol of animation,
\nHas fallen silent.<\/p>\n
\nThat made the mountains smile,
\nThat gave the jungles their chorus,
\nThat let birds and animals join the song,
\nHas gone quiet.<\/p>\n
\nThe jungles echoed his voice at noon.
\nEach field, each stream, each quiet glen,
\nHas lost its song beyond our ken.<\/p>\n
\nWhen life changed from the hissing breeze,
\nTo the quatrains of Zubeen,
\nHis stanzas that once ameliorated the wind-chimes,
\nHas fallen still.<\/p>\n
\nLike wind-chimes where his notes once played.
\nNow hills and rivers stand bereft,
\nAnd only memory\u2019s song is left.
\nThe fields, the hills, the rivers,
\nThe hearts that he touched,
\nHave all fallen quiet,
\nOn Zubeen\u2019s tragic demise.<\/p>\n
\nThe flow of his golden voice,
\nThat now feels solemn,
\nAfter his premature demise.<\/p>\n
\nRivers mourn,
\nThe night sky missing his refrain,
\nHis films have paused, his stage unlit,
\nYet in memory he remains.<\/p>\n
\nIn fraternity of species,
\nIn citizens group,
\nHis legacy will sing,
\nAgain and again,
\nBut Northeast will never be the same.<\/p>\n
