{"id":274221,"date":"2025-11-23T01:00:32","date_gmt":"2025-11-22T19:30:32","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/arunachaltimes.in\/?p=274221"},"modified":"2025-11-23T01:00:32","modified_gmt":"2025-11-22T19:30:32","slug":"oil-completes-safe-capping-operation-at-kharsang-oil-field","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/arunachaltimes.in\/index.php\/2025\/11\/23\/oil-completes-safe-capping-operation-at-kharsang-oil-field\/","title":{"rendered":"OIL completes safe capping operation at Kharsang oil field"},"content":{"rendered":"<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\"><strong>DULIAJAN, 22 Nov:<\/strong> Oil India Limited (OIL) has successfully completed the capping operation at Well 76 of the Kharsang oil field, operated by GeoEnpro Petroleum Ltd (GEPL), in Changlang district of Arunachal Pradesh.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">A blowout had occurred on 30 October during service operations, causing uncontrolled gas release from the well.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">OIL&#8217;s crisis management team (CMT), supported by experts from Cudd Well Control, USA and GeoEnpro Petroleum Limited team, took over the operations on 1 November and immediately mobilised people to undertake the complex task of safely removing the damaged blowout preventer (BOP) from the wellhead.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">Following the safe removal of the BOP, the pre-positioned capping stack was accurately installed onto the wellhead.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">With the capping stack firmly in place and secured, the BOP was successfully closed, effectively stopping the gas discharge from Well 76.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">The subsequent phases of the well control roadmap will now proceed in accordance with established operational protocols.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>DULIAJAN, 22 Nov: Oil India Limited (OIL) has successfully completed the capping operation at Well 76 of the Kharsang oil field, operated by GeoEnpro Petroleum Ltd (GEPL), in Changlang district of Arunachal Pradesh.
