{"id":276486,"date":"2026-01-15T00:19:18","date_gmt":"2026-01-14T18:49:18","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/arunachaltimes.in\/?p=276486"},"modified":"2026-01-15T00:19:18","modified_gmt":"2026-01-14T18:49:18","slug":"tawang-honours-veterans-day","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/arunachaltimes.in\/index.php\/2026\/01\/15\/tawang-honours-veterans-day\/","title":{"rendered":"Tawang honours Veterans&#8217; Day"},"content":{"rendered":"<p style=\"text-align: justify;\"><strong>TAWANG, 14 Jan:<\/strong> The Tawang Brigade celebrated the Veterans&#8217; Day honouring the selfless service and supreme sacrifices of India&#8217;s veterans at a special programme at the Tawang War Memorial on Wednesday.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">The event witnessed the enthusiastic participation of a large number of local Ex-Servicemen and Veer Naris reaffirming the enduring bond between the Indian Army and its veterans.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">The celebrations commenced with a wreath-laying ceremony at the War Memorial, where Brig Bhupal Singh along with senior-most veteran of Tawang Koncho Dorjee Lama, paid homage to martyrs, who laid down their lives in the service of the nation.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">During an interactive session, veterans shared inspiring experiences from their distinguished military careers. Their narratives of courage, camaraderie and commitment provided valuable insights and served as a strong source of motivation for the younger generation.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">In a significant initiative for veterans&#8217; welfare, a NAMAN registration counter was established at the venue to address grievances and concerns of ex-servicemen. Each veteran received personal attention, ensuring their issues were heard and appropriate assistance initiated.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">A key highlight of the event was the felicitation of distinguished veterans for their exceptional post-retirement contribution to society.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">Among those felicitated was Ex-Serviceman Nk T. Dorjee, currently residing in Shyo village in Tawang. A veteran of the Turtuk sector during Operation Vijay (1999), Dorjee has been actively promoting village-based eco-tourism in border areas. As an active member of the Ex-Servicemen Association of Tawang, his initiatives align closely with the government&#8217;s vision of sustainable development in frontier regions.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">Another distinguished veteran honoured was Ex-Serviceman Nb Sub Tsering Topgyal of Gomkang village, Tawang. A noted social activist, Topgyal has dedicated his post-retirement life to the cultivation of medicinal plants and rare species.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">Renowned for his scientific expertise in grafting and plantation techniques, his work has earned appreciation from both the government of India and the government of Arunachal Pradesh.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">The veterans also visited the Maj Bob Khathing Museum.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">The celebrations were further enlivened by a captivating Army Band performance and a vibrant fusion of patriotic music presented by local artists alongside the Army musicians, adding warmth and festive spirit to the occasion.
