\nEquality and fraternity.<\/p>\n
\nBut self-governing,
\nFrom Kashmir to Kanyakumari,
\nFrom Arunachal to Kutch.
\nA republic by her own word.<\/p>\n
\nChains melted into clauses,
\nSubjects transformed into citizens,
\nPower flowed downward.<\/p>\n
\nWhere ballots replaced commands,
\nAnd democracy learned to speak,
\nIn a hundred tongues.<\/p>\n
\nThe cry of Purna-Swaraj in nineteen thirty,
\nWhen freedom was first declared in spirit,
\nLong before it arrived in fact.
\nHope marched ahead of history,
\nAnd history followed to cement the victory.<\/p>\n
\nBoots strike the earth in measured pride,
\nThe mighty Indian Army and para-forces march in style,
\nWith tanks and guns galore,
\nThe mighty Air-force\u2019s fly past on the fore,
\nWhere tableaux\u2019s bloom with colour and culture,
\nThe bands play melodious tunes,
\nAnd folk songs dance beside steel resolve.<\/p>\n
\nThe President salutes,
\nWhere sacrifice is honoured,
\nIn silence louder than drums.<\/p>\n
\nHomes pause, hearts reflect.
\nA nation remembers its duties
\nAs much as its rights.<\/p>\n
\nFade into the night,
\nLeaving behind a promise renewed,
\nThat India is on the move.<\/p>\n
\nIt is a vow repeated every year:
\nTo guard the Constitution,
\nTo deepen democracy,
\nAnd to keep India, always,
\nA Republic of the people.
