{"id":278356,"date":"2026-02-20T00:37:59","date_gmt":"2026-02-19T19:07:59","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/arunachaltimes.in\/?p=278356"},"modified":"2026-02-20T00:37:59","modified_gmt":"2026-02-19T19:07:59","slug":"ec-asks-states-uts-to-prepare-for-next-phase-of-sir","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/arunachaltimes.in\/index.php\/2026\/02\/20\/ec-asks-states-uts-to-prepare-for-next-phase-of-sir\/","title":{"rendered":"EC asks states, UTs to prepare for next phase of SIR"},"content":{"rendered":"<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\"><strong>NEW DELHI, 19 Feb:<\/strong> The Election Commission on Thursday asked 22 states and union territories to complete preparatory work related to the special intensive revision (SIR) at the earliest as the exercise is &#8220;expected to start from April.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">Once the exercise is completed, all states and UTs will be covered.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">In a letter to the chief electoral officers of Andhra Pradesh, Arunachal Pradesh, Chandigarh, Dadra &amp; Nagar Haveli, Daman &amp; Diu, Haryana, Himachal Pradesh, Jammu and Kashmir, Jharkhand, Karnataka, Ladakh, Maharashtra, Manipur, Meghalaya, Mizoram, Nagaland, Delhi, Odisha, Punjab, Sikkim, Tripura,<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">Telangana and Uttarakhand, the poll authority said pan-India SIR of voters&#8217; list was ordered in June last year.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">In Bihar, the SIR exercise was completed and is ongoing in nine states and three UTs.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">In Assam, a &#8216;special revision&#8217;, instead of SIR, was completed on 10 February.
