{"id":280721,"date":"2026-04-05T00:26:31","date_gmt":"2026-04-04T18:56:31","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/arunachaltimes.in\/?p=280721"},"modified":"2026-04-05T00:26:31","modified_gmt":"2026-04-04T18:56:31","slug":"ulfa-i-militant-surrenders-before-security-forces","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/arunachaltimes.in\/index.php\/2026\/04\/05\/ulfa-i-militant-surrenders-before-security-forces\/","title":{"rendered":"ULFA-I militant surrenders before security forces"},"content":{"rendered":"<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\"><strong>ITANAGAR, 4 Apr:<\/strong> A militant of the banned ULFA-I surrendered before security forces in Tirap district, an official said on Saturday.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">The surrendered militant was identified as self-styled private Jintu Gogoi (23), alias Arun Asom, a resident of Hachara village under Singhadawar police station in Assam&#8217;s Sivasagar district.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">He laid down arms before the police, Assam Rifles, and Central Reserve Police Force at the superintendent of police&#8217;s (SP) office in Khonsa on Friday.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">During the surrender, Gogoi handed over a 7.65 mm Italian-made pistol along with one magazine and 10 rounds of live ammunition.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">The official said the move is part of sustained efforts to encourage militants to shun violence and return to the mainstream. Further investigation is underway, the official added.
