As the East Kameng Social Welfare and Cultural Organisation (EKSWCO) has sharply criticised the state’s Anti-Corruption Bureau (ACB), alleging ineffective investigation and lack of decisive action against key accused individuals, the EKSWCO’s Lada-Sarli Compensation Issue Committee described the ACB as a “toothless tiger,” arguing that the agency has failed to deliver meaningful accountability despite the scale of the scam.<\/p>\n
On the other hand, the Arunachal Pradesh Congress Committee (APCC) has constituted two fact-finding committees (FFCs) to investigate coal mining, ferro-alloy industries, and the Arunachal Frontier Highway (NH 913).<\/p>\n
The Arunachal Frontier Highway (NH 913) project is a strategic defence corridor, important for border connectivity and national security. The APCC has alleged corruption, lack of transparency, and procedural irregularities in the execution of NH 913. The APCC leadership, under Bosiram Siram, has publicly questioned the state government’s role in regulating industrial and infrastructure activities.<\/p>\n
The criticism targets the Bharatiya Janata Party-led state government, accusing it of failing to safeguard environmental and public interests. The Lada-Sarli section has emerged as the epicentre of a multi-crore scam, with alleged irregularities of around Rs 130 crore. Investigations found inflated and fraudulent compensation claims, including diversion of funds meant for genuine landowners.<\/p>\n
Fact-finding committees uncovered payments made for non-existent assets and beneficiaries, indicating systemic manipulation of land records and survey processes. Complaints from locals indicate that actual landowners were left out while others received inflated payouts. The Frontier Highway compensation issue is one of the largest governance scandals in recent Arunachal infrastructure development.<\/p>\n
