{"id":29606,"date":"2018-05-23T01:21:50","date_gmt":"2018-05-22T19:51:50","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/arunachaltimes.in\/?p=29606"},"modified":"2018-05-23T01:21:50","modified_gmt":"2018-05-22T19:51:50","slug":"rti-should-not-be-misused-cic","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/arunachaltimes.in\/index.php\/2018\/05\/23\/rti-should-not-be-misused-cic\/","title":{"rendered":"RTI should not be misused: CIC"},"content":{"rendered":"<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">\n<strong>HAPOLI, May 22:<\/strong> Taking serious note of misuse of the Right to Information (RTI) Act, Chief Information Commissioner (CIC) Joram Begi said RTI is a cherished right and it should not be misused.<br \/>\n&#8220;RTI should be used to curtail corruption and enforce accountability in all the activities under the purview of the Act,&#8221; Begi said during an awareness meeting on RTI Act, 2005, organised here on Tuesday by the Arunachal Pradesh Information Commission in collaboration with the Lower Subansiri district administration.<br \/>\n&#8220;RTI is a tool for participative democracy. This Act arms a common man with information that was erstwhile elusive. A well-informed citizen will contribute tremendously to the development of the society and enforce transparency in the entire developmental process,&#8221; Begi said.<br \/>\nState Information Commissioners Matheim Linggi, Abraham Techi, and Nanom Jamoh were the resource persons of the awareness programme.<br \/>\nWhile Linggi spoke on the roles and responsibilities of public information officers, Techi explained Section 8 and Section 11 of the RTI Act through a PowerPoint presentation. Jamoh presented a brief on the National Food Security Act, 2013.<br \/>\nThe meeting also featured an interactive session during which the resource persons cleared doubts raised by the participating panchayat members, goan buras, goan buris, and NGO representatives.
