{"id":31534,"date":"2018-06-07T02:09:53","date_gmt":"2018-06-06T20:39:53","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/arunachaltimes.in\/?p=31534"},"modified":"2018-06-07T02:09:53","modified_gmt":"2018-06-06T20:39:53","slug":"bsi-scientists-call-on-cm","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/arunachaltimes.in\/index.php\/2018\/06\/07\/bsi-scientists-call-on-cm\/","title":{"rendered":"BSI scientists call on CM"},"content":{"rendered":"<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">\n<strong>ITANAGAR, Jun 6:<\/strong> Botanical Survey of India (BSI) scientist Dr Krishna Chowlu, who discovered a new species of Impatiens &#8211; dorjeekhanduii, of the Balsaminaceae family &#8211; called on Chief Minister Pema Khandu here on Wednesday.<br \/>\nThe new species, named after former chief minister (late) Dorjee Khandu, was discovered and collected from Zemithang in Tawang district in September last year.<br \/>\nDr Chowlu said the Impatiens flower has been dedicated to the former chief minister to honour his contribution towards the development of the state.<br \/>\n&#8220;The name will be there in the scientific community forever, and whosoever will study the Balsaminaceae family in the world, will study Impatiens dorjeekhanduii,&#8221; she said.<br \/>\nApart from Dr Chowlu, Drs Rajib Gogoi, SS Dash and Souravjyoti Borah of the BSI also contributed in the publication of this species.<br \/>\nThe chief minister was all praise for Dr Chowlu and her team of scientists for discovering the new flower species.<br \/>\nDaughter of Chow P Chowlu and Nang B Chowlu, Dr Chowlu is the only scientist appointed from Arunachal Pradesh in the BSI through the UPSC.<br \/>\nA native of Namsai, Dr Chowlu has also discovered nine other plant species.<br \/>\nDeputy Chief Minister Chowna Mein and Planning Parliamentary Secretary Zingnu Namchoom were also present during the meeting.
