{"id":35844,"date":"2018-07-10T01:28:53","date_gmt":"2018-07-09T19:58:53","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/arunachaltimes.in\/?p=35844"},"modified":"2018-07-10T01:28:53","modified_gmt":"2018-07-09T19:58:53","slug":"disaster-preparedness-assessed","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/arunachaltimes.in\/index.php\/2018\/07\/10\/disaster-preparedness-assessed\/","title":{"rendered":"Disaster preparedness assessed"},"content":{"rendered":"<p style=\"text-align: justify;\"><strong>TAWANG, Jul 9:<\/strong> Issues like storing essential commodities and life saving medicines, departmental contingency plans, evacuation plan, etc, were discussed during a meeting held here on Monday to take stock of the district&#8217;s disaster preparedness.<br \/>\nChaired by ADC Lobsang Tsering, the meeting also identified buildings to be used as temporary shelters in case of any eventuality, and listed out the roles and responsibilities of the officers concerned.<br \/>\nRecalling past incidences of flashflood and landslides that had resulted in loss of lives and properties, Tsering advised the officers to be on alert, particularly during the monsoon.<br \/>\nSP Sagar Singh Khalsi stressed on creating awareness about precautionary measures against natural calamities and manmade mishaps by conducting mock drills and capacity building programmes, displaying signboards at vulnerable areas, using the social media, etc.<br \/>\nMajor Shekhawat of the 190 Mountain Brigade highlighted &#8220;the importance of communication during emergencies through exchange of representatives.&#8221;<br \/>\nHeads of departments and representatives of the Army and the SSB participated in the meeting.
