{"id":38233,"date":"2018-07-28T01:38:27","date_gmt":"2018-07-27T20:08:27","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/arunachaltimes.in\/?p=38233"},"modified":"2018-07-28T01:38:27","modified_gmt":"2018-07-27T20:08:27","slug":"ima-arunachal-says-no-to-nmc-bill","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/arunachaltimes.in\/index.php\/2018\/07\/28\/ima-arunachal-says-no-to-nmc-bill\/","title":{"rendered":"IMA Arunachal says no to NMC Bill"},"content":{"rendered":"<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">\n<strong>ITANAGAR, Jul 27:<\/strong> The Arunachal Pradesh branch of the Indian Medical Association (IMA) has vehemently opposed the Centre&#8217;s move to enact the National Medical Commission (NMC) Bill, 2017, which seeks to replace the Medical Council of India (MCI) with a new body.<br \/>\nIn a release, the IMA state branch stated that the bill has a &#8220;draconian character&#8221; which would cause irreparable damage to the interests of all the stakeholders and would &#8220;reduce the regulatory mechanism to a puppetry with its strings attached to the government.&#8221;<br \/>\nIt described the bill as &#8220;anti-poor, anti-people and anti-medical profession,&#8221; and said that, if passed, it would have unforeseen consequences on not only the health sector but also on the federal structure of the country.<br \/>\nThe IMA has called for observing &#8216;Dhikkar Diwas &#8211; no to NMC bill&#8217; this Saturday, and has called for suspending all non-emergency services, including OPD, for 12 hours, to protest against the NMC Bill.
