{"id":48442,"date":"2018-10-12T00:23:03","date_gmt":"2018-10-11T18:53:03","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/arunachaltimes.in\/?p=48442"},"modified":"2018-10-12T00:23:03","modified_gmt":"2018-10-11T18:53:03","slug":"world-mental-health-day-celebrated","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/arunachaltimes.in\/index.php\/2018\/10\/12\/world-mental-health-day-celebrated\/","title":{"rendered":"World Mental Health Day celebrated"},"content":{"rendered":"<p style=\"text-align: justify;\"><strong>RONO HILLS, Oct 11:<\/strong> Rajiv Gandhi University&#8217;s (RGU) psychology department celebrated World Mental Health Day, under the theme &#8216;Young people and mental health in a changing world&#8217;, on 10 October.<br \/>\nThe day is celebrated to spread global mental health education, awareness, and advocacy against the social stigma.<br \/>\nThe event at RGU was addressed by, among others, Vice Chancellor Prof Saket Kushwaha, who lamented that millions of youngsters are committing suicide and have mental issues.<br \/>\n&#8220;It is high time to search the root cause and develop security in ourselves through better relation with parents,&#8221; the VC said.<br \/>\nHe said his &#8220;dream from the psychology department, and overall from RGU, is practical application of our knowledge and develop a platform to address the issues and bring the changes in the society.&#8221;<br \/>\nRGU Registrar Prof Tomo Riba highlighted how negative attitude kills happiness, and said people &#8220;must always be ready to listen to others.&#8221; Faculty Dean Prof Mitra said &#8220;young people are busy with social media and actually going away from face-to-face social life.&#8221;<br \/>\nThe technical session featured lectures by Psychology Assistant Professor Dr Dharmeshwari Lourembam (on stress management) and Midpu-based mental health centre&#8217;s clinical psychologist Yeni Nabam (on mental health issues faced by the youths, and creating awareness and building resilience).<br \/>\nAmong others, professors Rachob Taba and Kesang Degi attended the programme, which also featured a skit performance by students and screening of a video on mental health issues.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>RONO HILLS, Oct 11: Rajiv Gandhi University&#8217;s (RGU) psychology department celebrated World Mental Health Day, under the theme &#8216;Young people and mental health in a changing world&#8217;, on 10 October.
