{"id":49915,"date":"2018-10-27T02:22:57","date_gmt":"2018-10-26T20:52:57","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/arunachaltimes.in\/?p=49915"},"modified":"2018-10-27T02:22:57","modified_gmt":"2018-10-26T20:52:57","slug":"ne-olympic-games","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/arunachaltimes.in\/index.php\/2018\/10\/27\/ne-olympic-games\/","title":{"rendered":"NE Olympic Games"},"content":{"rendered":"<h2 style=\"text-align: justify;\"><strong>Arunachal&#8217;s medal count soars to 55<\/strong><\/h2>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\"><strong>[ M Doley ]<\/strong><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\"><strong>IMPHAL, Oct 26:<\/strong> Arunachal Pradesh added three more gold medals on day three of the North East Olympic Games here in Manipur on Friday.<br \/>\nLalu Taku and Sambo Lapung won a gold medal each in weightlifting while Madin Hina bagged the gold medal in judo.<br \/>\nArunachal added a total of 31 medals on day-three, bringing the total medal count to 55 [15 gold, 9 silver, 31 bronze].<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\" wp-image-49928 alignleft\" src=\"https:\/\/arunachaltimes.in\/wp-content\/uploads\/2018\/10\/NE-Olympic-Games.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"325\" height=\"644\" \/>Commonwealth Youth and Junior Champion Taku clinched the gold with a total lift of 270 kg in the men&#8217;s 71 kg weight category.<br \/>\nHe lifted 120 kg in snatch and 150 kg in clean-and-jerk.<br \/>\nSAF Games Champion Sambo lifted a total of 300 kg [snatch 135 kg + clean-and-jerk 165 kg] in men&#8217;s 81 kg weight category.<br \/>\nRuba Tadu won a silver medal in the men&#8217;s 67 kg category. He lifted 108 kg in snatch and 138 kg in clean-and-jerk [total 245 kg].<br \/>\nLiza Kamsa won the silver medal in the women&#8217;s 64 kg category by lifting 60 kg in snatch and 86 kg in clean-and-jerk [total 146 kg].<br \/>\nPH Roshni won another silver medal for the state in the women&#8217;s 71 kg category. She lifted 77 kg in snatch and 90 kg in clean-and-jerk [total 167 kg].<br \/>\nBoni Mangkhiya won a bronze in women&#8217;s 59 kg category. Anai Wangsu won bronze in the in the 55 kg category.<br \/>\nSorom Hitlar Tagru, one of the gold medal prospects in the men&#8217;s 89 kg category, was debarred from participation in the competition due to less bodyweight.<br \/>\nJudokas Dindu Chukla and Silom Tesia won a silver medal each in men&#8217;s and women&#8217;s category respectively.<br \/>\nKamdon Boi, Rahul Mipi, Yari Maying, and Ehalu Tesia bagged a bronze medal each in judo.<br \/>\nIn boxing, Muni Leya [51 kg], Posan Kongkan [54 kg], and Doi Tapoida [75 kg] won a bronze medal each in women&#8217;s section.<br \/>\nIn the men&#8217;s section, Techi Maniya [49 kg], Kumar Beyong [52 kg], Aguk Juja [56 kg], and Biri Taro [64 kg] won a bronze medal each.<br \/>\nJohn Tagru is the only boxer from the state to reach the final.<br \/>\nIn Taekwondo, Nabam Menia bagged a silver medal in the women&#8217;s U-49 kg Kyorugi event, while Kipa Memey bagged a bronze in the U-57 kg category in the same event.<br \/>\nIn Wushu, Mercy Ngaimong won the bronze medal in chanquan event while Mepung Lamgu won a bronze in Tai Chi Jian.<br \/>\nRealu Boo won the silver medal in women&#8217;s Tai-Chi.<br \/>\nOther bronze medalists in Wushu in the women&#8217;s category were Onilu Tega [-48 kg], Taug Ama [-60 kg], and Chera Yagu [-65 kg].<br \/>\nIn the men&#8217;s category, Kigo Yoka [-56 kg], and Ripaksho Chikro [-60 kg] won a bronze medal each.<br \/>\nThree players have assured a silver medal each as they reached the finals.<br \/>\nIn badminton, Arunachal entered into the finals of women&#8217;s singles, women&#8217;s doubles and men&#8217;s doubles.<br \/>\nLaa Yajum defeated H Jyotichandra of Assam 21-9, 21-11 to reach the women&#8217;s singles final. She will play against Maheswari of Manipur in the final on Saturday.<br \/>\nThe pair of Pinky Karki and Taring Yania defeated Hriati and Zuali of Mizoram 21-18, 21-19 to reach the women&#8217;s doubles final.<br \/>\nPinky and Yania will meet Purnima and Somi Bala of Manipur in the final tomorrow.<br \/>\nRaja Gupta and Akshay Raito defeated Konsam Sandeep and Bidyachandra of Manipur to reach the men&#8217;s doubles final.<br \/>\nIn the men&#8217;s singles, Sonam Tamang lost 21-1 and 21-18 to Bidyasagar Salam of Manipur and settled for the bronze medal.<br \/>\nIn mixed doubles, the pair of Tania Yasap and Rahul Thapa went down fighting 21-18, 21-19 to their opponents from Mizoram and settled for the bronze.<br \/>\nAchik Wangsa won a bronze medal in javelin throw.<br \/>\nArunachal&#8217;s men&#8217;s and women&#8217;s football teams lost their opening matches against Assam and Meghalaya respectively.<br \/>\nThe men&#8217;s team lost 2-3 to Assam while the women&#8217;s team was defeated by Meghalaya 3-1.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Arunachal&#8217;s medal count soars to 55 [ M Doley ] IMPHAL, Oct 26: Arunachal Pradesh added three more gold medals on day three of the North East Olympic Games here in Manipur on Friday.
