The kidnappers have demanded a ransom of Rs 3 crore.<br \/>\nThe victim, identified as Debabrata Deb, was kidnapped from his temporary residence at around 7.15 pm on Sunday evening.<br \/>\nThe kidnappers were carrying sophisticated weapons and had reportedly introduced themselves as members of Udoy Asom group of the outlawed ULFA-Independent faction, the police said.<br \/>\nSecurity forces have swung into action to ensure the safe release of Deb, it added.<br \/>\nMilitant outfits have been using the dense jungles of Namsai area, bordering Tinsukia district of North Assam, as their hideouts.<br \/>\nSeveral subversive acts like kidnapping, extortion, ambush and other antisocial activities have earlier been reported along the Changlang-Namsai and Tinsukia border areas.
