{"id":53469,"date":"2018-12-04T01:37:39","date_gmt":"2018-12-03T20:07:39","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/arunachaltimes.in\/?p=53469"},"modified":"2018-12-04T01:37:39","modified_gmt":"2018-12-03T20:07:39","slug":"change-your-mindset-towards-differently-able-people-guv","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/arunachaltimes.in\/index.php\/2018\/12\/04\/change-your-mindset-towards-differently-able-people-guv\/","title":{"rendered":"Change your mindset towards differently-able people: Guv"},"content":{"rendered":"<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">\n<strong>ITANAGAR, Dec 3:<\/strong> Governor BD Mishra called upon people to change their attitude towards differently-able people.<br \/>\n&#8220;Instead of being sympathetic, they must be empathetic towards them,&#8221; said the governor while addressing the International Day of Persons with Disabilities celebration at the Donyi Polo Mission School for Hearing and Visually Impaired (DPMSHVI) at Chimpu near here on Monday.<br \/>\nOn the occasion, Mishra complemented former chief minister Gegong Apang for establishing the DPMSHVI.<br \/>\nHe said that differently-able persons must not lose heart but use their abilities to progress. He advised them to practice yogasanas (Yoga postures), which is beneficial for all.<br \/>\nReferring to the &#8216;Rights of Persons with Disabilities Bill-2016&#8217; passed by the Parliament under the leadership of Prime Minister Narendra Modi, the governor suggested that new schemes, amenities and reservations for the differently-able must be regularly brought in.<br \/>\nThe governor advised the officials of the state department of Social Justice, Empowerment and Tribal Affairs to provide computer software, which will help the visually-impaired children.<br \/>\nImmensely impressed by the crafts made by the students, the governor suggested for instituting a display place in the state government emporiums in the metros for its promotion.<br \/>\nEarlier, the governor felicitated the participants on the occasion and also gave away prizes to the winners of essay writing completion, conducted by the department of Social Justice, Empowerment and Tribal Affairs.<br \/>\nHe also felicitated Dr K Zaman, medical practitioner of Ramakrishna Mission Hospital, Itanagar for his contribution towards DPMSHVI, Chimpu, since its inception.<br \/>\nThe DPMSHVI, which was established on 15 October, 1990, currently has 106 students, including 15 visually impaired.
