{"id":54760,"date":"2018-12-15T01:54:40","date_gmt":"2018-12-14T20:24:40","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/arunachaltimes.in\/?p=54760"},"modified":"2018-12-15T01:54:40","modified_gmt":"2018-12-14T20:24:40","slug":"nimas-conducts-countrys-first-mtb-course","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/arunachaltimes.in\/index.php\/2018\/12\/15\/nimas-conducts-countrys-first-mtb-course\/","title":{"rendered":"NIMAS conducts country&#8217;s first MTB course"},"content":{"rendered":"<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">\n<strong>CHIMPU, Dec 14:<\/strong> Four local riders have completed the country&#8217;s first mountain terrain biking (MTB) course conducted by Dirang (West Kameng)-based National Institute of Mountaineering &amp; Allied Sports (NIMAS) from 1 to 12 December.<br \/>\nThe riders are Ahondo Menjo, Tajum Dare, Kaling Mize and Rubi Lombo, informed the youth affairs directorate&#8217;s adventure cell in-charge, KR Meetei.<br \/>\nAs part of the training, the quartet pedalled across several notable passes, including Bomdila and Sela, onto Bumla in Tawang. They covered around 250 kms of high-altitude mountain areas with heights measuring up to 15500 ft during peak winter, where daytime temperatures plunge to below -7 degrees Celsius.<br \/>\nDuring the 12-day course, the riders were trained on acclimatization procedures, high-altitude medicines, uphill and downhill biking manoeuvring skills, bike repair, river crossing with bike, methodology of preparation for competition, etc.<br \/>\nYouth Affairs Director DK Dinglow felicitated the successful trainees in his office chamber here on Friday.<br \/>\nThe expedition-cum-training course had been flagged off by Sports &amp; Youth Affairs Minister Dr Mohesh Chai and General Officer Commanding of 4 Corps, Lt General GS Sangha, at Rupa on 3 December.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>CHIMPU, Dec 14: Four local riders have completed the country&#8217;s first mountain terrain biking (MTB) course conducted by Dirang (West Kameng)-based National Institute of Mountaineering &amp; Allied Sports (NIMAS) from 1 to 12 December.
