{"id":58067,"date":"2019-01-23T01:03:19","date_gmt":"2019-01-22T19:33:19","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/arunachaltimes.in\/?p=58067"},"modified":"2019-01-23T01:03:19","modified_gmt":"2019-01-22T19:33:19","slug":"skill-development-prog-underway","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/arunachaltimes.in\/index.php\/2019\/01\/23\/skill-development-prog-underway\/","title":{"rendered":"Skill development prog underway"},"content":{"rendered":"<p style=\"text-align: justify;\"><strong>NAMSAI, Jan 22:<\/strong> Fifteen rural youths from different villages of Namsai district are participating in a six-day skill development programme on scientific pig farming, which got underway at the KVK here on Tuesday.<br \/>\nHeld in association with the State Agriculture Management &amp; Extension Training Institute and the National Institute of Agriculture Extension Management, the training is aimed at transforming information into gainful employment opportunities for the unemployed rural youths in the area of scientific pig farming.<br \/>\nAddressing the participants, the ICAR&#8217;s Basar (Lepa Rada)-based RC for NEH Region&#8217;s Joint Director Dr H Kalita spoke about the economic gains to be made through scientific pig rearing. He encouraged the rural youths to &#8220;harness the pig potential as potent income generation enterprise,&#8221; and stressed on integrating pig rearing with crops cultivation to reduce the problem of finding feed in remote areas.<br \/>\nArunachal University of Studies vice chancellor Dr VK Kowatra advised the youths to &#8220;become skilled and employed, and create employment for others,&#8221; and District Fisheries Assistant Director SK Jawal spoke on &#8220;the importance of pig integration with fish to improve the production as well as profits.&#8221;<br \/>\nKVK Head Dr Manish Kanwat explained the present status and opportunities in pig farming in the district, and urged farmers to rear pigs &#8220;as an economic wheel to improve the income of rural unemployed youths.&#8221;<br \/>\nCourse director Dr Santosh Kumar explained the current status of pig production in India.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>NAMSAI, Jan 22: Fifteen rural youths from different villages of Namsai district are participating in a six-day skill development programme on scientific pig farming, which got underway at the KVK here on Tuesday.
