{"id":58423,"date":"2019-01-26T01:53:43","date_gmt":"2019-01-25T20:23:43","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/arunachaltimes.in\/?p=58423"},"modified":"2019-01-26T01:53:43","modified_gmt":"2019-01-25T20:23:43","slug":"mishra-urges-apscw-to-rise-to-girl-childrens-aspirations","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/arunachaltimes.in\/index.php\/2019\/01\/26\/mishra-urges-apscw-to-rise-to-girl-childrens-aspirations\/","title":{"rendered":"Mishra urges APSCW to rise to girl children&#8217;s aspirations"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><strong>ITANAGAR, Jan 25:<\/strong> Governor BD Mishra has urged the Arunachal Pradesh State Commission for Women (APSCW) to &#8220;rise to the need and aspirations of every girl child of the state&#8221; by being vigilant and proactive in addressing issues of atrocities against girls and women.<br \/>\nHe said this during a meeting with a delegation of the APSCW which had called on him at Raj Bhavan here on Friday.<br \/>\nThe delegation, which was led by APSCW chairperson Radhilu Chai Techi, submitted a memorandum to the governor regarding various issues pertaining to the commission.<br \/>\nEmphasizing on women&#8217;s education and health, Mishra suggested to the commission to undertake an extensive tour of the state to ensure that every girl child aged six years and above goes to school.<br \/>\n&#8220;The future of Arunachalee society lies on constitutional bodies like the women&#8217;s commission; therefore, the onus is on the members of the commission to rise to the need and aspirations of every girl child of the state,&#8221; he said.<br \/>\nStating that Arunachalee women must be secure at home and outside, Mishra said &#8220;they should be fully empowered to access all their rights and dignity, and be given opportunity to contribute in equal measure in all walks of life.&#8221;<br \/>\nHe advised the APSCW to explore suitable measures and effective enforcement of laws to secure the safety, rights and entitlements of women in the society.<br \/>\nAmong others, APSCW Vice Chairperson Heyomai Towsik, members Hoksum Ori, Likha Joya and Techi Hunmai, and Member Secretary Yame Higio were present at the meeting.<br \/>\nThe APSCW delegation later called on Women &amp; Child Development (WCD) Minister Nabam Rebia, and submitted a memorandum highlighting issues such as the requirement of a permanent APSCW office, and creation of regular posts for the office.<br \/>\nFurther, stating that the APSCW is dependent on grants-in-aid from the state government, which are routed through the WCD department, the team requested for an independent plan head for the APSCW.<br \/>\nRebia assured to look into all the points highlighted in the memorandum as early as possible.<\/p>\n<h3 style=\"text-align: justify;\"><strong>APSCW team attends NCW meeting<\/strong><\/h3>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">Earlier, on 22 January, APSCW Chairperson Radhilu Chai Techi and member Techi Hunmai attended an interactive meeting of the National Commission for Women (NCW) in New Delhi.<br \/>\nThe meeting, which discussed the procedure of handling complaints across the states, saw the participation of representatives from all the state women&#8217;s commissions (SCW).<br \/>\nThe NCW suggested to the SCWs to computerize their registration mechanisms, and to frequently interact with the NCW and share information about experiences and good practices.<br \/>\nIt also suggested conducting training programmes for all the staffs of the state commissions.<br \/>\nThe APSCW team suggested that the NCW immediately take up cases or matters pertaining to central government employees after they have been recommended and forwarded by the SCWs.<br \/>\nLater, the APSCW members participated in a short meeting with the NCW&#8217;s Northeast zone in-charge Soso Shaiza to discuss the problems and issues related to women and girl children in the region.
