{"id":59053,"date":"2019-02-03T02:04:51","date_gmt":"2019-02-02T20:34:51","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/arunachaltimes.in\/?p=59053"},"modified":"2019-02-03T02:04:51","modified_gmt":"2019-02-02T20:34:51","slug":"aitf-takes-out-rally-against-cab-prc-and-tah-scam","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/arunachaltimes.in\/index.php\/2019\/02\/03\/aitf-takes-out-rally-against-cab-prc-and-tah-scam\/","title":{"rendered":"AITF takes out rally against CAB, PRC and TAH scam"},"content":{"rendered":"<p style=\"text-align: justify;\"><strong>Staff Reporter <\/strong><br \/>\n<strong>ITANAGAR, Feb 2:<\/strong> The Arunachal Indigenous Tribes Forum (AITF), supported by numerous community-based and student unions, held a car rally from Nirjuli to Itanagar on Saturday in opposition to a series of issues, ranging from the Trans-Arunachal Highway (TAH) compensation scam to the citizenship amendment bill (CAB).<br \/>\nSpeaking to reporters at IG Park here, AITF president Bengia Tolum said the forum had written a memorandum to the CAB joint parliamentary committee (JPC) chairman Rajendra Agrawal in June 2018 and expressed resentment over the JPC&#8217;s inability to visit the state for a public hearing on the CAB.<br \/>\nTolum said the organisations &#8220;vehemently oppose the CAB in Arunachal Pradesh for its anti-tribal and anti-indigenous nature of policy.&#8221;<br \/>\nHe also highlighted the possible ramifications introducing the CAB could have on the indigenous populace of the state, and said, &#8220;The central government should not compel us to believe that they do not care for us.&#8221;<br \/>\nAlso seeking a CBI inquiry into the multi-crore TAH scam, Tolum asked the state government to book the culprits &#8220;as revealed in the fact-finding committee report by the AK Singh Committee, submitted to the state government on 17 September, 2018.&#8221;<br \/>\nHe said the state government should clear all hurdles, including the tendering process and other formalities, within a timeframe to start the road construction work.<br \/>\nTolum informed that the organisations would submit a memorandum regarding the same to the governor and the prime minister.<br \/>\nAdditionally, on the demand for issuing permanent resident certificates (PRC) to long-residing non-APSTs in the state, Tolum said the higher authorities should have analyzed the situation before making promises.<br \/>\n&#8220;Legal complicacies and how granting PRC would affect us in the long run should have been considered,&#8221; he told reporters.<br \/>\nOn his stance that PRCs should be given after the National Register of Citizens (NRC) is complete, Tolum said: &#8220;After NRC, if there is someone residing in Arunachal with no other address in the country, those persons can be given PRCs.&#8221;<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Staff Reporter ITANAGAR, Feb 2: The Arunachal Indigenous Tribes Forum (AITF), supported by numerous community-based and student unions, held a car rally from Nirjuli to Itanagar on Saturday in opposition to a series of issues, ranging from the Trans-Arunachal Highway (TAH) compensation scam to the citizenship amendment bill (CAB).
