{"id":60075,"date":"2019-02-13T03:03:40","date_gmt":"2019-02-12T21:33:40","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/arunachaltimes.in\/?p=60075"},"modified":"2019-02-13T03:03:40","modified_gmt":"2019-02-12T21:33:40","slug":"nscn-im-elects-new-chairman-vice-chairman","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/arunachaltimes.in\/index.php\/2019\/02\/13\/nscn-im-elects-new-chairman-vice-chairman\/","title":{"rendered":"NSCN (IM) elects new chairman, vice chairman"},"content":{"rendered":"<p style=\"text-align: justify;\"><strong>KOHIMA, Feb 12:<\/strong> The Isak-Muivah faction of the National Socialist Council of Nagaland (NSCN-IM) has unanimously elected Qhehezu Tuccu as the new chairman of the outfit.<br \/>\nIt also elected Tongmeth Wangnao as the vice chairman of the organisation.<br \/>\nThe chairman&#8217;s post was lying vacant for over two years after the death of the founder-chairman of the NSCN (IM), Isak Chishi Swu, on 28 June, 2016, while the post of vice chairman fell vacant following the demise of Kholi Konyak on 12 December, 2018.<br \/>\nBoth Tuccu and Wangnao were elected for a tenure of six years, a release issued by the NSCN (IM) said.<br \/>\nNSCN (IM) general secretary, Th Muivah, on Monday declared the two names at Camp Hebron, the faction&#8217;s headquarters, the release said.<br \/>\nThe NSCN (IM) is in ceasefire with the Centre since 1997, and negotiations are on to resolve the seven-decade-old Naga political problem.<br \/>\nA framework agreement was also signed between the Centre and the NSCN (IM) in August 2015.
