{"id":66928,"date":"2019-05-14T01:00:36","date_gmt":"2019-05-13T19:30:36","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/arunachaltimes.in\/?p=66928"},"modified":"2019-05-14T01:00:36","modified_gmt":"2019-05-13T19:30:36","slug":"org-laments-prevalence-of-child-labour-in-state-despite-ban","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/arunachaltimes.in\/index.php\/2019\/05\/14\/org-laments-prevalence-of-child-labour-in-state-despite-ban\/","title":{"rendered":"Org laments prevalence of child labour in state despite ban"},"content":{"rendered":"<p style=\"text-align: justify;\"><strong>ITANAGAR, May 13:<\/strong> The Arunachal Pradesh unit of the North East Human Rights Organisation (NEHRO) has appealed to the state government to impose a blanket ban on child labour.<br \/>\nIn a representation to the chief secretary, the NEHRO<br \/>\nurged him to issue an order directing all concerned to stop child labour.<br \/>\nThe organisation lamented that despite the ban on it, child labour is still rampant in Arunachal.<br \/>\n&#8220;Child labour in Arunachal is found mainly in the form of domestic help, hotel boys, and unskilled workers at garages and other commercial establishments,&#8221; it said.<br \/>\nThe organization lamented that these children are not only exploited as cheap labour but also subjected to physical abuse, threat and intimidation.<br \/>\nAs per the law, the NEHRO said, employing children below 14 years of age in any form of work that can jeopardize the education and development of a child is an offence.<br \/>\nThe NEHRO also urged the state government to ensure education of every child aged between 6 and 14 years of age, as mandated in the RTE Act.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>ITANAGAR, May 13: The Arunachal Pradesh unit of the North East Human Rights Organisation (NEHRO) has appealed to the state government to impose a blanket ban on child labour.
