{"id":66943,"date":"2019-05-14T01:04:57","date_gmt":"2019-05-13T19:34:57","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/arunachaltimes.in\/?p=66943"},"modified":"2019-05-14T01:04:57","modified_gmt":"2019-05-13T19:34:57","slug":"admin-set-to-tackle-traffic-issues","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/arunachaltimes.in\/index.php\/2019\/05\/14\/admin-set-to-tackle-traffic-issues\/","title":{"rendered":"Admin set to tackle traffic issues"},"content":{"rendered":"<p style=\"text-align: justify;\"><strong>ITANAGAR, May 13:<\/strong> The administration has come up with ways to tackle the swelling traffic in the capital complex, starting with heavy penalties against traffic violators and a halt on registration of commercial passenger vehicles until notified.<br \/>\nThis was decided during a meeting between Deputy Commissioner Himanshu Gupta, SP Tumme Amo, DTO C Wangsu and others here on Monday.<br \/>\nThe officials discussed various modalities to ease traffic congestion, and measures to check traffic rules violation in the capital.<br \/>\nThe DC informed that an enforcement drive would be conducted jointly by the magistrates, the police and the MVIs from 16 May to check violation of traffic rules, like vehicles without proper documentation, commercial vehicles without plying permits, vehicles with tinted glasses, two-wheeler riders without helmets, etc.<br \/>\nGupta said defaulters and violators would be penalized heavily. He added that those who ply without permit would be externed out of the capital complex, and that the impounded vehicles would be kept at the parking lot in Bank Tinali.<br \/>\nThe DC said the administration would also conduct a study on vehicle density to find out the optimum density for the capital complex, and that till the study is completed, no fresh registration of auto-rickshaws, Trekkers, Tempos, etc, would be done.<br \/>\nThe DC has also issued an order banning plying of heavy vehicles &#8211; except school buses and IMC garbage trucks &#8211; from Naharlagun to Itanagar and vice-versa on NH 415 and the Jollang road from 8 am to 6 pm, till further order.<br \/>\nThe order also directed the APST buses and commercial passenger buses plying to various districts and to other states to operate from the ISBT in Lekhi only.<br \/>\nThe SP informed that special teams would be formed to check traffic violations round the clock at all the important stretches. He also said haphazard parking would be checked during the drive.<br \/>\nThe DC and the SP will visit all prominent locations of the capital complex that witness the highest traffic jams, and will work out ways to ease the traffic congestion.<br \/>\nThe DC appealed to the residents of the capital complex to cooperate with the administration and abide by the rules and regulations, &#8220;as such violations endanger public safety.&#8221;<br \/>\nAmong others, Itanagar EAC Hengo Basar attended the meeting.
