{"id":79442,"date":"2019-09-21T02:20:11","date_gmt":"2019-09-20T20:50:11","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/arunachaltimes.in\/?p=79442"},"modified":"2019-09-21T02:20:11","modified_gmt":"2019-09-20T20:50:11","slug":"rgu-hosts-workshop-on-cancer-and-palliative-care","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/arunachaltimes.in\/index.php\/2019\/09\/21\/rgu-hosts-workshop-on-cancer-and-palliative-care\/","title":{"rendered":"RGU hosts workshop on cancer and palliative care"},"content":{"rendered":"<p style=\"text-align: justify;\"><strong>RONO HILLS, Sep 20:<\/strong> A workshop themed &#8216;Cancer and palliative care: The scenario in Arunachal Pradesh&#8217; was jointly organized by Rajiv Gandhi University&#8217;s (RGU) Centre for Youth Development and Leadership Studies and Itanagar-based AMG Foundation here on Friday.<br \/>\nThe workshop, which was attended by 84 participants, stressed on &#8220;the need for psychosocial interventions as part of palliative care approach where social workers can provide quality of life and care during death to a terminally ill person,&#8221; according to a release from the university.<br \/>\nAddressing the participants, an oncologist from the TRIHMS said, &#8220;Papum Pare district being the first in the country in incidences of stomach, cervical, ovarian and thyroid cancer is a (matter of) great concern.&#8221;<br \/>\nAMG Foundation president Likha Sonsi highlighted the organisation&#8217;s goals and activities.<br \/>\nThe speakers at the workshop were cancer control programme state nodal officer Dr Sam Tsering, TRIHMS pain and palliative care in-charge Dr Tashi Chotton, TRIHMS Radio Oncologist Dr Hage Sonia, and RGU&#8217;s social work department&#8217;s guest faculty member Dr Rachel Kabi.<br \/>\nThe workshop was attended by, among others, RGU Vice Chancellor (in-charge) Prof A Mitra, Academic Dean Prof SK Singh, and Social Work HoD Dr Kaushalendra Pratap Singh.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>RONO HILLS, Sep 20: A workshop themed &#8216;Cancer and palliative care: The scenario in Arunachal Pradesh&#8217; was jointly organized by Rajiv Gandhi University&#8217;s (RGU) Centre for Youth Development and Leadership Studies and Itanagar-based AMG Foundation here on Friday.
