{"id":83577,"date":"2019-11-02T01:03:01","date_gmt":"2019-11-01T19:33:01","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/arunachaltimes.in\/?p=83577"},"modified":"2019-11-02T01:03:01","modified_gmt":"2019-11-01T19:33:01","slug":"cook-off-held-to-promote-local-cuisines","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/arunachaltimes.in\/index.php\/2019\/11\/02\/cook-off-held-to-promote-local-cuisines\/","title":{"rendered":"Cook-off held to promote local cuisines"},"content":{"rendered":"<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">\n<strong>Correspondent<\/strong><br \/>\n<strong>ITANAGAR, Nov 1:<\/strong> In a bid to promote local cuisines, the tourism department on Friday organised a cooking competition (vegetarian) at the State Food Craft Institute (SFCI) here.<br \/>\nThirteen participants took part in the cook-off, themed &#8216;Backyard biodiversity local vegetable and herbs&#8217;.<br \/>\nTilek Perme, Teri Yajo and Yade Dujom secured the first, second and third prize, respectively, while consolation prizes were given to Nabam Neme Ngurang and Techi Nime.<br \/>\nEarlier, Tourism Assistant Director Bengia Manna Sonam exhorted the participants to &#8220;preserve the biodiversity and use local herbs sustainably for commercial purposes.&#8221;<br \/>\nShe assured to provide more training to unemployed youths and make them well-equipped to run businesses of their own.<br \/>\n&#8220;We have enough natural resources to use in the eatery business. The only thing we need is to enhance our cooking skills in innovative ways,&#8221; Sonam said.<br \/>\nArunachal Pradesh Tour Operators&#8217; Association president John Panye said &#8220;women can also play a vital role in promoting tourism in the state by running homestays and restaurants.&#8221;<br \/>\nStating that Arunachal is abundant in natural resources, he appealed to all to tap its natural resources for earning sustainable income.<br \/>\n&#8220;Tourists are looking for indigenous food and culture.
