{"id":84607,"date":"2019-11-12T01:33:31","date_gmt":"2019-11-11T20:03:31","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/arunachaltimes.in\/?p=84607"},"modified":"2019-11-12T01:33:31","modified_gmt":"2019-11-11T20:03:31","slug":"number-of-tobacco-users-in-tawang-decreasing-dpo","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/arunachaltimes.in\/index.php\/2019\/11\/12\/number-of-tobacco-users-in-tawang-decreasing-dpo\/","title":{"rendered":"Number of tobacco users in Tawang decreasing: DPO"},"content":{"rendered":"<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">\n<strong>TAWANG, Nov 11:<\/strong> Tawang District Tobacco Control Cell (DTCC) DPO Dr Sangey Thinlay said the number of tobacco users in the district has been decreasing &#8220;due to the continuous joint efforts of the administration, the DTCC, NGOs, and others.&#8221;<br \/>\nAddressing a meeting of the district level coordination committee of the National Tobacco Control Programme, which was chaired by DC (in-charge) Lobsang Tsering here on Monday, Dr Thinlay also spoke about &#8220;the ill-effects of tobacco and its impact on the socioeconomic and religious life of the individual.&#8221;<br \/>\n&#8220;There is a village called Lhunpo, under Zemithang circle, where not a single individual uses tobacco since last many years, and we need to publicize such exemplary village,&#8221; the DPO added.<br \/>\nThe DC (in-charge) suggested conducting more awareness camps in villages and &#8220;increasing the frequency of sensitization programmes.&#8221; He also requested the HoDs concerned, who were present, to &#8220;work more sincerely in all ways to make the society better.&#8221;<br \/>\nSuggestions such as sensitizing the taxi drivers, carrying out frequent raids under the COTPA, declaration of no-smoking zones, etc, were offered by the participants.
