{"id":84878,"date":"2019-11-15T01:13:01","date_gmt":"2019-11-14T19:43:01","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/arunachaltimes.in\/?p=84878"},"modified":"2019-11-15T01:13:01","modified_gmt":"2019-11-14T19:43:01","slug":"remote-villagers-benefit-from-armys-medical-camp","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/arunachaltimes.in\/index.php\/2019\/11\/15\/remote-villagers-benefit-from-armys-medical-camp\/","title":{"rendered":"Remote villagers benefit from Army&#8217;s medical camp"},"content":{"rendered":"<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">\n<strong>TAKSING, Nov 14:<\/strong> The Indian Army has conducted a medical camp at remote Taksing, a tiny village nestled in the western reaches of Upper Subansiri district, a defence release said on Thursday.<br \/>\nThe camp, which was organized on Wednesday, witnessed a large turnout of patients, including women and children, who were provided with much needed treatment and medicines, the release said.<br \/>\nTaksing, bordering China, is the abode to the relatively unknown Nah Tagin tribe, and is the last bastion of human civilization.<br \/>\nDaily sustenance is an ongoing struggle for the inhabitants in this far-flung village with their daily life full of strife and struggle.<br \/>\nThe nearest health centre being 125 kms away, in Nacho, has left a void in the village for medical care and treatment and little provision to cater to medical emergencies, Kohima-based Defence Spokesman Lt Col Sumit Sharma said in the release.<br \/>\nOn seeing the plight of the villagers in Taksing, the Indian Army has decided to organise &#8216;Taksing clinic&#8217; at regular intervals to help the people. This will be manned by the Army medical staff.<br \/>\nEarlier in the year, a &#8216;polio ravivaar&#8217; campaign was organized to provide immunization doses to children.<br \/>\nAwareness programmes, including a door-to-door medical campaign, were also conducted for the villagers to educate them about the importance of hygiene and sanitation to prevent various food- and water-borne diseases, the release added.
