{"id":85463,"date":"2019-11-22T02:03:56","date_gmt":"2019-11-21T20:33:56","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/arunachaltimes.in\/?p=85463"},"modified":"2019-11-22T02:03:56","modified_gmt":"2019-11-21T20:33:56","slug":"workshop-on-sustainable-agriculture-held","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/arunachaltimes.in\/index.php\/2019\/11\/22\/workshop-on-sustainable-agriculture-held\/","title":{"rendered":"Workshop on sustainable agriculture held"},"content":{"rendered":"<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">\n<strong>ITANAGAR, Nov 21:<\/strong> The agriculture department of the Himalayan University (HU) organised a workshop on &#8216;Modern approaches for nutritional food security and sustainability of agriculture in Northeast India&#8217;, here on Thursday.<br \/>\nAttending the programme, HU vice-chancellor Dr HS Sharma said &#8220;the department of agriculture needs to spread information among farmers, so that they can increase their yield and income,&#8221; and registrar Dr Vivek Mittal explained the problems in the agriculture cropping system.<br \/>\nAgriculture HoD Dr Raja Husain spoke about chemical fertilizers, and enumerated approaches through which farmers could &#8220;increase production without losing the quality of the grain or fruit.&#8221;<br \/>\nRGU&#8217;s Botany HoD, Dr Hui Tag, explained the agriculture-related problems in Arunachal, and how to manage them, stressing on organic farming and use of organic manures.<br \/>\nSeveral agriculture students of the university presented posters as part of a competition organised to mark the programme.<br \/>\nRamu Cheri (BSc) won the first prize, Taba Alice (BSc) won the second, and two students &#8211; Zamsini Taniang (MSc) and Gichik Lapang (BSc) &#8211; jointly won the third prize.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>ITANAGAR, Nov 21: The agriculture department of the Himalayan University (HU) organised a workshop on &#8216;Modern approaches for nutritional food security and sustainability of agriculture in Northeast India&#8217;, here on Thursday.
