{"id":8679,"date":"2017-11-15T01:14:52","date_gmt":"2017-11-14T19:44:52","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/arunachaltimes.in\/?p=8679"},"modified":"2017-11-15T01:14:52","modified_gmt":"2017-11-14T19:44:52","slug":"underprivileged-children-celebrate-childrens-day","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/arunachaltimes.in\/index.php\/2017\/11\/15\/underprivileged-children-celebrate-childrens-day\/","title":{"rendered":"Underprivileged children celebrate Children\u2019s Day"},"content":{"rendered":"<p style=\"text-align: justify;\"><strong>ITANAGAR, Nov 14:<\/strong> To commemorate the 128th birth anniversary of Pundit Jawaharlal Nehru, Children\u2019s Day was celebrated across the state with great enthusiasm.<br \/>\nMore than hundred underprivileged children studying at the Don Bosco Literary Centre celebrated Children&#8217;s Day at the Don Bosco Youth Centre (DBYC).<br \/>\nThe event, organised by Childline, in collaboration with DBYC saw the children taking part in various games and sports activities.<br \/>\nAddressing the students, Deputy Commissioner, Capital Prince Dhawan called on them to become ambassadors for a clean capital.<br \/>\nEncouraging the underprivileged students to have a dream for future, he asked them to work hard towards its realisation. He further said that wellbeing of the state depends on the well being of its children.<br \/>\nDhawan appreciated the Childline and DBYC for giving a platform to underprivileged children to hone their various skills.<br \/>\nThe Itanagar Parish, Fr Mathai and Vice Chancellor of Arunodaya University Dr Vishwa Nath Sharma also spoke on the importance of educating young minds.<br \/>\nMembers from the Art of Living distributed protein supplements to the children.<br \/>\nOn the occasion, Chief Minister Pema Khandu visited the Government Higher Secondary School and the lone government college of Upper Subansiri district.<br \/>\nOn witnessing the dilapidated condition of the school, Pema assured to immediately sanction Rs 10 crore for building of new classrooms and requested the execution of work be carried under DC with proper monitoring team.<br \/>\nHe also assured to introduce diploma level computer courses for the school with support from the Department of Telecommunication and informed to hold discussions with the union government on this matter.<br \/>\nHe further assured that the college will be shifted to its permanent site at Jeram village.<br \/>\nAt Itanagar, the Arunachal Pradesh Congress Committee celebrated the birth anniversary of Pandit Jawaharlal Nehru, first Prime Minister of India on November 14 at the Rajiv Gandhi Bhawan in Itanagar.<br \/>\nThe party leaders recalled the contributions of Nehru on the occasion and highlighted his love and affection for children. They also appealed to the party men and women to take a pledge to tirelessly work on his values and ideals.<br \/>\nThe Arunachal Pradesh Congress Seva Dal also paid tributes to Pandit Jawaharlal Nehru on the occasion of Children\u2019s Day. The Pradesh office bearers and City Congress Seva Dal attended the programme.<br \/>\nDRS International School, Itanagar celebrated Children\u2019s Day in its school premises with colourful programmes and healthy competitions.<br \/>\nChildren were taught about the significance of the day by the teachers, who also advised them to be good citizens.<br \/>\nAt Kharsang, the Bridge of Hope, a child care project for underprivileged children of Believers Eastern Church celebrated Children\u2019s Day and its annual day at Namphai Project under Kharsang circle. Cultural programmes by children marked the event.<br \/>\nAt Sagalee, the children of Donyi-Polo Mission School celebrated the day with literary and games and sports activities.
