{"id":88742,"date":"2019-12-24T01:09:51","date_gmt":"2019-12-23T19:39:51","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/arunachaltimes.in\/?p=88742"},"modified":"2019-12-24T01:09:51","modified_gmt":"2019-12-23T19:39:51","slug":"national-mushroom-day-celebrated-2","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/arunachaltimes.in\/index.php\/2019\/12\/24\/national-mushroom-day-celebrated-2\/","title":{"rendered":"National Mushroom Day celebrated"},"content":{"rendered":"<p style=\"text-align: justify;\"><strong>PASIGHAT, Dec 23:<\/strong> Mushroom growers participated in the celebration of the National Mushroom Day at the College of Horticulture &amp; Forestry (CHF) here in East Siang district on Monday.<br \/>\nThe nutritional values of mushroom and the need of mushroom cultivation were highlighted by CHF Dean Prof BN Hazarika and CHF Plant Protection Head Prof DB Ahuja.<br \/>\nThe All India Coordinated Research Project on Mushroom\u2019s Principal Investigator, Dr RC Shakywar, emphasized \u201cthe need to create more awareness among the farming community on the need and importance of mushroom cultivation in the district.\u201d<br \/>\nHe informed the farmers about the spawn production unit in his department, and the initiatives taken up by the ICAR\u2019s Solan (Himachal Pradesh)-based mushroom research directorate for promotion of mushroom cultivation.<br \/>\nEast Siang KVK Head, Dr Eloni Vida, briefed the gathering on the mushroom extension activities taken up by the KVK and the CHF.<br \/>\nDr Vida advised the farmers to use quality spawn and proven technologies for mushroom cultivation.<br \/>\nA farmer-scientist interaction session was also organised, during which the KVK\u2019s plant protection scientist educated the farmers on insect pest and disease management.<br \/>\nProgressive mushroom growers Oti Sitang Eko (from Mirbuk) and Titil Perme (from Rani) highlighted the issue of contamination of spawn during inoculation, and requested the scientists to suggest suitable remedy to the problem.<br \/>\nThe farmers shared their views on mushroom production for nutritional security and higher economic returns.<br \/>\nMushroom spawns were distributed among the farmers.
