The implementation of hydro power projects in the state has become a hot topic of discussion, at least at the government level. From the confession of Chief Minister Pema Khandu in a recent seminar, we can assume that no one is sure yet when Arunachal will become a powerhouse. From the CM’s disclosure, it is understood that only two per cent of the estimated 50000 MW hydro power potential has been generated in the state, and above all ‘petty politics’ by some vested interests is the main hurdle in project implementation.
\nDeputy Chief Minister Chowna Mein, who is also minister in-charge for hydropower, seems to be serious on the hydropower development issue as he suggested the developers ‘to be more serious towards the allotted projects and show some serious intent on implementation of the projects.’ Mein also called upon the district administration, power developers and PCCF, ‘to work in tandem to get the project implemented immediately in the state’ and also directed the Land Management Secretary ‘to take all necessary steps to sort out the issues of land acquisition in all allotted projects in a time bound manner.’
\nIt is hoped that while implementing the ‘feasible and beneficial hydro projects’, the authorities will also be seriously looking into the grievances of the hydro projects affected people of the state.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
