{"id":95031,"date":"2020-02-29T01:25:44","date_gmt":"2020-02-28T19:55:44","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/arunachaltimes.in\/?p=95031"},"modified":"2020-02-29T01:25:44","modified_gmt":"2020-02-28T19:55:44","slug":"media-persons-seek-safety","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/arunachaltimes.in\/index.php\/2020\/02\/29\/media-persons-seek-safety\/","title":{"rendered":"Media persons seek safety"},"content":{"rendered":"<p style=\"text-align: justify;\"><strong>NEW DELHI, Feb 28:<\/strong> A delegation of journalists representing the Press Club of India, the Indian Women&#8217;s Press Corps and the Press Association have met union Information &amp; Broadcasting (I&amp;B) Minister Prakash Javadekar, calling for his intervention against media persons being targeted while covering the violence in northeast Delhi.<br \/>\nThe delegation met Javadekar on Thursday and submitted a memorandum, urging the government, particularly the I&amp;B ministry and the home ministry, to direct the police to uphold democratic values and sensibilities.<br \/>\nThe delegation in its memorandum highlighted the alleged rough treatment by the police in the recent rioting in northeast Delhi where journalists were shot at, heckled and even attacked with batons and rods, a statement by the delegation said.<br \/>\nJavadekar agreed with media persons that it was of utmost importance that the media is permitted to do its work &#8220;in a conducive atmosphere,&#8221; the statement said.<br \/>\nThe minister assured the delegation that he would take up the issue with the authorities concerned to ensure safety and security of journalists.
