YUPIA, Apr 17: A team of experts from the Mental Health Centre, Midpu, conducted a ‘mental and physical counselling session’ for the stranded migrant labourers at the two relief camps here in Papum Pare district on Friday.
The team, comprising clinical psychologist Nabam Yeni and psychiatrist social workers Dagrik Gara and Poona Baja, sensitized the workers to the implications of Covid-19 during the programme, which was organized by the District Health Society (DHS).
Nearly 80 stranded migrant labourers are being sheltered at the two relief camps in Yupia.
DMO, Dr Subu Tasso Kampu, informed that “some labourers in the two relief camps are having signs and symptoms of much stress and need proper clinical findings and counselling.”
She said the DHS is “leaving no stone unturned in monitoring the health and hygiene of the labourers,” and is providing them with proper medical check-ups and medicines, apart from awareness on the precautionary measures against Covid-19.
Among others, DC Pige Ligu, SP Jimmy Chiram, ADC Tabang Bodung, and health workers were present at the counselling session. (DIPRO)
