AALO, 5 May: The West Siang district administration has imposed a night curfew within Aalo Township from 7 pm to 5 am, with orders for all the markets/ shops and commercial establishments to remain closed from 6 pm to 6 am, till further order.
This was decided in a meeting held among stakeholders in the office chamber of the district nodal officer here on 2 May after noting that West Siang district is slowly but steadily witnessing an increase in the number of Covid-19 cases.
In an order issued on 5 May, Deputy Commissioner Moki Loyi said that any person violating the order shall be liable to be proceeded against as per provisions of Section 51 to 60 of the Disaster Management Act, 2005, besides legal action under Section 188 of IPC and other relevant legal provisions as applicable.
The movement of emergency/ essential services, such as medical teams, police, sector magistrates, pharmacies, fire services, delivery cases, serious patients, media persons with valid ID proof, transportation of dead bodies and Covid-19 team are exempted from the purview of the curfew.
The administration has also made rapid antigen test (RAT) compulsory for anyone returning to the district.
As per the new travel guideline issued by the DC, anyone returning from other districts will have to produce ‘facilitation slip’ at the point of entry at Ruksin in East Siang district, without which they will not be allowed to enter the district.
Those arriving from Roing in Lower Dibang Valley district will need to go into self-isolation for a night and undergo compulsory RAT the next day.
Returnees, who possess valid negative RAT/ RT-PCR or TrueNat reports not older than 72 hours and those who have taken the vaccines, will not be required to undergo further tests.
The DC also said that action will be initiated against those people, who have entered the district through Likabali check gate, avoiding RAT, and have later tested positive for Covid-19, under appropriate sections of law in the future. (DIPRO)
