NAHARLAGUN, 4 Apr: The two-day Arunachal Fashion Week-2022 (The Artisan Movement), organised by the Jarbom Gamlin Hope Foundation (JGHF), concluded at the JGHF office here on Sunday evening.
Arunachal Pradesh Public Service Commission member Jarken Gamlin and Textile & Handicraft Secretary Swapnil M Naik attended the first day of the event.
The first day saw the participation of seven designers, including Ratan Utte, Jiyi Ete, Ninna and
Toklak, Yachi Natung Taniang, Nyayi Ete and Taba Enju, headlined by Boney Darang Nyikyor, who is known as the pioneer of the fashion industry in the state.
Milli Indira, Hibu Ollo, Nang Watika Mantaw, Mam Yayi, Salisha Bam and Yamak Tana Tara exhibited their works on the second day, which was headlined by celebrity designer Tonu Riba Ete.
Liromoba MLA Nyamar Karbak and Arunachal Pradesh State Commission for Women Chairperson Radhilu Chai Techi attended the second day’s event.
JGHF chairperson Bompu Gamlin said that the event was an initiative of the foundation “to collaborate the artisans with the designers and showcase the social and cultural aspects of different tribes of Arunachal Pradesh.”
She further said that “it aims to provide a level playing platform to our tribal artisans, weavers, craftsmen and designers to unify and encourage the traditional roots.”
