Police rescue kidnapped man

MIAO, Feb 13: The police here in Changlang district on Monday rescued the vice president of M/s Puna Hinda, who was kidnapped by unknown persons on 9 February and held in captivity.
“On 10 February, the president of the construction company informed the police that his company’s vice president, Taru Tana (46) was abducted by some unknown persons who were keeping him in captivity in an undisclosed location,” said Miao SDPO Tashi Darang.
The kidnappers reportedly demanded a ransom for the release of the victim.
The police, after registering a case under Section 364(A) of the IPC, immediately launched a search operation at various locations.
The police team, led by the SDPO and the OCs of the Bordumsa and Kharsang police stations, on 12 February evening carried out a massive search operation near Namphai area and rescued the victim.
Tana was found from the jungle between Nayang and Kamlang villages under the jurisdiction of the Miao police station. It is presumed that the kidnappers abandoned him there, sensing the presence of police, and fled from the place.
Tana sustained blunt injuries on his head and left hip after reportedly being assaulted by his kidnappers during his captivity. He has been handed over to his younger brother Taru Nobin for medical treatment.
The search operation was supervised by Changlang SP JK Lego.
