KAMKI, 11 Nov: Gunner Veteran FC won the day and night Veteran Football Tournament after beating Bene Veteran FC by 3-1 goals at the playground here in West Siang district on Thursday.
The tournament was organised by the Kamki Area Sports Association (KASA).
Addressing the valedictory function, Likabali MLA Kardo Nyigyor, who along with Liromoba MLA Nyamar Karbak and Basar MLA Gokar Basar attended it, Karbak informed that “the Eagle Cup football tournament 2023 shall be played at KASA field and Kamba football field,” and added that both the grounds will be developed before the Eagle Cup tournament.
He also urged all to participate in “the Darak sports carnival in December.”
MLA Basar commended the organisers and said that “all age groups must be opted for games and sports as sudden heart stroke is a common phenomenon, for which we have to rethink about this.”
He discouraged “seeking land compensation for overall development of the area,” and said that “land compensation is a hindrance to development.”
Nyigyor urged the people of the area to “utilise the government funds for development of the area.” He also urged all the elected MLAs of the area to “improve and immediately complete the Likabali-Basar national highway.”
He advised the youths to keep away from drugs and play sports instead.
KASA chief patron Dr Tomar Kamki also spoke.
“The tournament was organised for youths to be inspired by veteran footballers of yesteryears,” the KASA informed.
Among others, DC Penga Tato, DSP Moge Bole, and legendary singer Moge Doji attended the function. (DIPRO)
