ITANAGAR, 11 Nov: The Dao division of the Spear Corps organised a mela in Walong in Anjaw district on Thursday as part of the ongoing diamond jubilee celebration of the Battle of Walong, and to commemorate the bravery and sacrifice of the Indian Army while defending Indian territory against the Chinese aggression in 1962, the army informed.
“The profuse response of the local residents during the mela is a tribute to the sacrifices made by our bravehearts to ensure peace in the region and also ensure its territorial integrity during the war with China,” the defence spokesperson said in a statement.
