Habitual thief arrested, stolen items recovered 

ITANAGAR, 9 Aug: The Itanagar police have arrested a habitual thief and fugitive, identified as Toi Tamang, and recovered stolen gold jewellery and other valuable items from his possession.

One Ratan Tamang, a resident of D Sector here, lodged an FIR at the police station, stating that an unknown individual had stolen a gold chain, a gold ring, eight gold earrings, and two nose pins from her residence.

The police registered a case [u/s 305(a) BNS], and formed a special investigation team, comprising Inspector Khiksi Yangfo, Sub-Inspector Samuel Ngupok, and Constables Sandeep Yadav, Tayo Bodo, Shiplu Das and Nik Kabak. The team identified and interrogated 12 known habitual offenders and burglars.

During the investigation, Tamang, who had previously been arrested in connection with a case under Sections 292/317/3(5) BNS, r/w Sections 21(a), 27/29 of the NDPS Act, and had escaped from police custody on 20 July, emerged as a suspect.

Upon thorough interrogation, Tamang confessed to his crimes, leading to the recovery of several items, including a digital camera, a laptop, a gold ring, sixgold earrings, two mobile phones.

The operation was carried out under the supervision of Itanagar SDPO Kengo Dirchi and Itanagar SP Rohit Rajbir Singh, the police informed in a release.
