TRIHMS’ controversial goof-up

The decision of the Arunachal Pradesh Staff Selection Board (APSSB) to withdraw 47 posts of multitasking staffers (MTS) just two days before the exam was bizarre. The board claimed that it had to withdraw these posts based on the recommendation of the TRIHMS authorities. On its part, the TRIHMS claimed that the posts were recalled due to some anomalies in the recruitment rule (RR), and that soon they will be re-advertised. It is quite astonishing to know that the TRIHMS authorities realized the need for correction in RR just days before the examination.

What were they doing all these days? They should have recalled the posts much earlier in such a case. Also, it is questionable why they published these 47 posts if there was no clarity in the RR. This raises a serious question mark over the credibility of the TRIHMS authorities. The decision to withdraw the 47 posts just two days before the exam has created doubts in the minds of the aspirants. Already the people of the state are still trying to recover from the trauma of the APPSC paper leak scam. Therefore such kind of goof-up should be avoided to ensure transparent and doubt-free competitive examinations. On their part, the APSSB should issue strict instructions to the departments, asking them to advertise job vacancies only after getting them properly vetted, so that no controversy arises.
