Editor,
I wish to express concern over the manner in which the Arunachal Pradesh Public Service Commission (APPSC) has been handling applications filed under the Right to Information (RTI) Act, 2005.
As per the Act, information must be furnished within 30 days. However, my RTI application seeking copies of my marksheet and marks statement related to APPSCCE 2024 has remained unattended well beyond the stipulated timeframe. Even after personally visiting the APPSC office, I received no satisfactory response or communication.
Such delays not only violate the spirit of the RTI Act but also undermine the principles of transparency and accountability that the commission is duty-bound to uphold. The credibility of the APPSC has already been questioned in the wake of past controversies and the ongoing AESE 2025 debacle. Allegations of bias and discrimination during the viva voce stage of APPSCCE 2024 have further eroded the trust of aspirants.
I strongly urge APPSC to:
- Dispose of RTI applications within the mandated period,
- Communicate clear timelines to applicants, and
- Establish a robust grievance redressal mechanism to restore confidence among candidates.
I request your newspaper to highlight this pressing issue, so that the authorities concerned are compelled to act. Transparency and fairness are the cornerstones of any credible institution, and it is imperative that the APPSC adheres to these values.
An aspirant
