AALO, 29 Jan: West Siang Deputy Commissioner Techu Aran appealed to the people and vehicle users in the district to follow the traffic rules.

Addressing a District Road Safety Committee meeting here on Thursday, Aran urged the town magistrate and the traffic police to check unused vehicles parked alongside the highway to avoid road accidents.

He informed that notice will be served to the godown owners whose godowns are located near the highway and the market road.

During the meeting, SP Kardak Riba appealed to all the private school bus drivers to submit relevant papers to the district transport office (MV) and the superintendent of police for verification within a short period.

Riba further informed that “pillion riders shall be imposed penalty of Rs 25,000 and motorcycle/scooter shall be confiscated by the authority under the Motor Vehicle Act” if they are in violation of traffic rules.

Highway AE Gemar Padu and DTO Hummo Taipodia highlighted the road safety and highway guidelines.

Government officials, including DMO Dr Linya Lollen were also present at the meeting. (DIPRO)
