NAHARLAGUN, 31 Mar: The Gauhati High Court Itanagar Permanent Bench Bar Association (GHCIPBBA) has demanded immediate arrest of individuals involved in the attack on advocate Gegum Lollen.
Addressing the media here on Tuesday, the president of the Bar association, advocate Nabam Regum, urged the police to immediately arrest the three individuals involved in the assault on Lollen, and threatened to launch a democratic movement if they are not apprehended at the earliest.
“They should be booked under appropriate sections related to kidnapping, criminal intimidation, and attempt to murder. We have also decided that no advocate will take on the accused’s case. If any advocate does so, they will be removed from the membership of our Bar association,” said Regum.
Earlier, in his FIR, Gegum Lollen alleged that Likha Akash, Gora Paku, and Taring Tayu assaulted him at his rented house.
Lollen had represented Akash and filed a case in the court related to his disqualification as a presidential candidate of the AAPSU. He alleged that, after the court dismissed the petition, Akash began blaming him, and on Tuesday morning the three arrived at his house in an inebriated condition and assaulted him.
